Blake & Jenna Bolerjack
Award winning Christian Music Duo, Blake & Jenna Bolerjack, travel full time with concert ministry together. As husband and wife, Blake & Jenna meld their voices to create a signature, velvety blend. Their music reflects their personalities, a bubbly mix of classic and modern styles with a big sound that is energetic, happy and inspiring. They also will share their testimonies about how even in dark times God never leaves you.
Jenna’s Cancer Journey
Blake writes: In December 2015 Jenna was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer. She quickly was ushered into treatment for this particularly aggressive cancer. She endured 8 chemo treatments followed by major surgery in May 2016. By God’s grace the treatments were very effective and her prognosis is full recovery. Not to be stopped, my bull-headed wife continued traveling with me and singing throughout her treatment. She even recorded our first full length duet CD project with me in the short weeks between her last chemo treatment and surgery. Since then, we’ve recorded a total of 3 CDs together with many more to come, God willing. In our concerts we sing and declare what the Lord has done and how we’ve gotten to experience firsthand his faithfulness, provision, and joy through this life threatening storm. Jenna has gotten to proclaim the goodness of God in her doctors’ appointments, interactions with other patients, and sharing about how she does not have to “fear bad news” because she knows who holds her in his capable hands. We take the time, wherever we go, to give thanks that whatever the prognosis, whatever the situation, in Jesus we have a win-win situation.
Blake’s Depression Journey
Jenna writes: My husband is the most resilient person I know. For years he traveled as a soloist before I joined him onstage and night after night I watched him sing his heart out and also share his very personal testimony about going through debilitating depression as a teenager. A perfectionist by nature, Blake felt he had to be perfect in every area of his life, even his walk with the Lord, and he would trash talk himself so badly it resulted in crippling anxiety and clinical depression. Things got so bad that he couldn’t function and was placed in a hospital; it was there he attempted to take his life at age 17. But, by the grace of God, he was rescued both physically and emotionally. At the lowest point of his life Blake says the love of God was overwhelmingly real and he experienced God’s grace in a whole new way. He hit rock bottom and found out God still loved him and wanted him. When he talks about his emotional healing he is passionate to communicate that others can know the freedom of Christ and the love that is extended to them. Blake is the kindest person you will ever meet and to this day he marvels that God can heal and restore even when your own choices have imprisoned you.
A Word from Blake & Jenna
Before we step foot in your church, we have prayed for you and your congregation. We pray that each in attendance would be melted by God’s love and assured of their priceless worth in His eyes. We pray that God uses the tools and talents he has given us to create not only a time of enjoyment but mostly a time of challenge that would be impossible to ignore. And we pray that after we leave, everyone who was there is left heartened and refueled to carry out God’s will for their lives and their ministry in your church. We pray that their affections are stirred for Jesus.
Our passion for sharing God’s message of love through music stems from our own past experiences when after attending Christian concerts we each felt spurred on and filled up with love for the Lord. Music, lyrics, and scripture are the tools the Lord has used over and over to comfort and restore us in our walk with him. Music can capture people in a unique way when they may have turned off their hearts to the Lord’s nudgings. We feel concerts and special music times can especially reach people that might not be receptive to a traditional service format. My wife and I love you and your church and would be honored to serve you with a special time of music and that when we leave, you love Jesus even more than before we came.
Why Concerts?
Many people may ask the question, “Why should my church host a concert or special music time?” Our conviction and passion for sharing concerts (an extended time of music, singing, and testimony), stem from our past experiences attending concerts. We’ve always been very personally encouraged by concerts growing up and even today, and have been refreshed and “spurred on” to do the good work we’ve been called to do after going to a concert. Concerts offer a time of encouragement of believers; a time to kick back, have fun, and open our hearts unguardedly to what the Lord will tell us. Sometimes the music can speak a word into our lives that we hadn’t recognized before, sometimes the music can melt a cold heart and make it receptive to the Lord’s prodding, and sometimes the music is something we can just praise God for creating – that He was so creative and artistic with everything He made and gave us to enjoy! I feel concerts can be an alternative option from a traditional service time to speak Truth into people that might not have been as receptive in other circumstances. Concerts are encouraging and healing to the soul.
Music formats that we offer include:
Full or mini concerts, banquets, guest artist specials, ministry focus groups such as women’s ministries, senior adult ministries, married and single adults, and Christmas and holiday concerts. Select choir music is also available for regular programs and for Christmas. We also can come as guest soloists to participate with your church choir production.
Noteworthy and Bio Information
Blake is an award winner songwriter and has traveled in full-time concert ministry since 2005 and has recorded 7 CDs. Recently, his wife, Jenna, has joined him on stage and they currently sing as a Christian vocal duo, earning them the nickname: “The Sweethearts of Gospel Music”. Their concerts have led them all across the US, Canada and overseas for multiple concert tours to Germany sharing and spreading the message of God’s love through song and testimony.
The Lord started tugging on Blake’s heart early in his life to go into concert ministry. The first group Blake toured with was the summer before his senior year in High School with The Continental Singers, an experience he says taught him the value of concert ministry and how God can use our testimonies to encourage others. Blake attributes most of his musical training to West Texas AMU and Liberty University, and his communication and performance skills to the education he gained from the theater department at Oklahoma Baptist University where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Theater Arts. Blake and Jenna have recorded interviews and televised performances for TBN and VTN networks. Blake gained national recognition for the presence of his solo single “Somebody Cares” on top radio charts including Singing News magazine and Blake & Jenna have since topped radio charts with multiple songs including their 2 original songs “Bring On the Storm” and “I’ve Got My Reservation”. Blake won the grand prize for his song “Bring On the Storm” in the Singing News magazine national songwriting competition in 2017. Blake also had the honor to record the original “Prayer Force One”theme song and perform it at the Oklahoma State Capitol in April 2007; the song has since been played at every State Capitol in the US.
A life of travel has never been foreign to Blake. Even though Blake spent the majority of his childhood in Perryton, Texas (which he calls ‘home’), Blake lived in 13 different houses and 4 different states while growing up. “I would not change anything,” Blake says, “I have great memories.” Each place has its own special meaning for Blake: Shepherd, MI is where Blake gave his heart to the Lord and asked Jesus to save him; Mount Pleasant, MI was the time of family bike rides to Big Boy (a favorite restaurant of the family’s) and “great family picnics.” Colorado Springs, CO is where the Lord “rescued me from a pit of despair and where my life was changed forever—where I finally started to understand God’s love for me and experience victory over the most powerful stronghold on my life: depression.” And finally, Blake attributes Perryton, Texas as the place where he became more grounded in his faith and found a church that really took him in and discipled him. Blake is passionate about singing and also has interests in songwriting, video editing, woodworking, and studying soteriology.
Jenna grew up in Carrollton, TX where she pursued many interests including theater, band, and choir. Jenna loves animals and books and especially enjoys sipping a good cup of coffee in front of a beautiful sunrise. Unlike Blake, Jenna never moved at all until going off to college at Oklahoma Baptist University, where they met. She continued to pursue her love of fine arts there by participating in choir and performing in the theater. Jenna earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English, which Jenna says enabled her to be a certified bookworm. She especially loves reading historical fiction, classic literature and the Bible; the books of Psalms, Romans, and John are among her favorites. God got a hold of Jenna at a very young age when she gave her heart to Jesus and the story of faithfulness He has woven through Jenna’s life is one she adamantly says has continued through every step of her cancer journey. Jenna admits the journey was and still is hard but she is thankful for the constant reminder of her need for Jesus. “Just one day, one day at a time.” She muses, “That approach helped me so much for my cancer journey and is a mindset I think is helpful for everyone.” Jenna has always liked to sing but never imagined she’d be singing with her husband professionally. She reflects, “When we got married and started traveling, I’d run Blake’s sound equipment while he sang and I’d maybe join him for a song or two during the concerts. I was content with that! Never did I imagine God would invite me to the platform full-time to get to share in that form of ministry and artistry.”
Blake & Jenna currently make their home in Oklahoma City, OK where they like to try hole-in-the-wall restaurants, compare the best coffee and tea spots, ride bikes, and spend time with family and friends.
